DayZ Patch Notes: Experimental 0.58
Another month, another DayZ experimental patch ready for testing! This month, we’re seeing experimental 0.58, the successor to last months highly successful ‘double patch’, 0.56 and 0.57, which introduced tons of content to the game including new weapons, attachments, mechanics and generally just tons of fixes for existing content. Click here to read more about the last stable patch, or read on for information on the latest experimental patch 0.58.
New User Interface
[NOTE – to enable the new UI, you must set a new launch parameter in steam ‘-newui’]
The initial main feature of this new patch seems to be the new user interface, something which has long needed some love since DayZ’s release more than a year ago. The new UI applies to the main menu, the ‘pause’ menu and your interface in-game. It’s cleaner, snappier, and brings the interface generally more in line with this this generation of games. Check out the new pause menu below:
And the brand new options interface:
Finally we no longer have to go in and out of 4 different menu sections to find the specific graphical settings we need. Everything is laid out nice and neatly, just like almost every other game of this generation.
And finally, the new player menu interface:
World Containers
Finally, after seeing the initial implementation of transportable barrels in the last patch – we’re now seeing world containers which can be found and interacted with throughout Chernarus. The example below is of a refrigerator, found abandoned in the streets and capable of storing up to 10 slots worth of items.
And More
Details are still coming in, but other note worthy additions in this early 0.58 experimental patch include:
- V3S Trucks now have a usable inventory
- You can now remove wheels from the V3S
- Empty magazines are now spawning
- There’s a temporary ‘global chat’ which has been confirmed to be a server bug
